BPS Bengkalis Strengthens Local Data Governance through Compilation of Administrative Products
October 14, 2026 | Other Activities
BENGKALIS — The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bengkalis Regency continues to strengthen the implementation of One Data Indonesia (SDI) in Bengkalis Regency through the One Data Indonesia Desk Forum. This activity, held together with the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) and the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Office (Diskominfotik), serves as a platform to encourage the availability of accurate, up-to-date, integrated, and accountable data.
The event, held in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Bappeda Bengkalis office on Monday, October 12, 2026, was opened by the Head of Bappeda Bengkalis, Rinto, accompanied by the Secretary of Diskominfotik Bengkalis, H. Adisutrisno, Head of BPS Bengkalis, Sudiro, as well as the Head of Data and Statistics Division of Diskominfotik Bengkalis, Azmar. The activity was also attended virtually by district government officials and other regional apparatus.
In the activity, Bengkalis Regency BPS emphasized the importance of utilizing administrative data produced by Regional Device Organizations (OPD) as a source of development data. This approach is known as the compilation of administrative products or Kompromin.
Head of Bengkalis BPS, Sudiro, explained that data collection from the Person in Charge (PIC) at OPD is done through the compilation of administrative products. According to him, this method makes use of the human resources already available in each OPD, making it more efficient.
"Data collection from the PICs at OPD is done through the compilation of administrative products (Kompromin), because the human resources are available, so it’s more cost-effective compared to census or survey data collection," said Sudiro.
Furthermore, Sudiro mentioned that implementing Kompromin can reduce the need for collecting data directly through censuses or surveys. Besides being more cost- and labor-efficient, this approach also makes the most of the administrative data that local government agencies already have in carrying out their duties and functions. BPS Bengkalis emphasized that the success of Kompromin greatly depends on the quality of the administrative documents produced by these agencies. Therefore, every agency needs to ensure that the data they produce is comprehensive, clearly defined, up-to-date, and can be verified and accounted for.
The head of Bappeda Bengkalis, Rinto, believes that the ability of officials to manage and utilize data needs to be continuously improved, considering how fast information is developing.
"We hope meetings like this can be held regularly, at least every three months, both offline and online. Information nowadays moves really fast, so the knowledge and skills of local officials in managing data also need to be constantly updated," he said.
According to Rinto, well-managed data will help the local government plan programs, set targets, and allocate budgets more accurately.
"Make sure the data under each department's responsibility can be well-connected, well-collected, and optimally used. This is expected to improve the quality of government management in the future," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Diskominfotik Bengkalis, H. Adisutrisno, said that the Desk Forum activities play an important role in building high-quality, integrity-driven, and accountable sectoral data management.
“Data holds a very strategic position in regional development. Data is not just an administrative complement, but the main foundation in formulating development planning and policies. Therefore, data quality really needs to be prioritized,” he said.
Adisutrisno emphasized that every government agency producing data needs to carry out data inventory, verification, and validation according to their authority. He also reminded about the importance of applying data standards, metadata, and clarifying the role of each regional apparatus in producing, updating, and maintaining data quality.
"We hope that the data collected from various regional devices can be well integrated, so that when the leadership needs information, the data is already available and can be accessed through a single platform," he explained.
In the division of roles for Satu Data Indonesia, Bappeda carries out the coordination function, Diskominfotik acts as the data custodian, while BPS provides statistical guidance. Meanwhile, local government agencies are responsible for providing sectoral data according to their respective duties and functions.
The presence of BPS Bengkalis in this activity reinforces its role as the regional statistical supervisor. BPS provides guidance on statistical standards, metadata, classifications, and data governance so that the data compiled from various local government agencies can be used consistently and can be trusted.
Through strengthening Kompromin and synergy between agencies, BPS of Bengkalis Regency hopes that the collection of sectoral data can run more efficiently, sustainably, and be oriented toward development needs. Accurate and integrated data is expected to become the basis for more targeted and responsive development planning in Bengkalis Regency.
