Population Census (SP) is a census conducted by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) every 10 years with a year ending in zero. In 2020 is the 7th Population Census after the period 1961, 1971, 1980, 1990, 2000, and 2010. In 2010, the total population of Indonesia was 237.641.326 people consisting of 119.630.913 male residents and 118.010.413 female population. Meanwhile, the distribution of population by place of residence in urban areas is 118.320.256 people and in rural areas it is 119.630.913 people.
This year's Census activity aims to provide data on the number, composition, distribution, and characteristics of the population into one data of population. Another objective is to provide demographic parameters and population projections (fertility, mortality, migration) as well as other population characteristics for the purposes of population projection and SDGs indicators.
The SP2020 activities consist of the Online Population Census (SPO) which was held from 15 February – 29 May 2020 while the September Population Census was held from 1 – 30 September 2020.
